What is the Great Aberdeen Pig Out?
This 2-day, all ages music festival features local and regional bands performing on two outdoor stages in historic Downtown Aberdeen. Now in its 7th year, the Great Aberdeen Pig Out has solidified its status as the region’s leading outdoor music festival, drawing over 12,000 music fans by showcasing veteran bands and emerging artists.

Who organizes The Pig Out?
The Pig Out is hosted by the Aberdeen Downtown Association, a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization, as a way to create awareness of all that Downtown Aberdeen has to offer. You can learn more about the Aberdeen Downtown Association at their website www.aberdeendowntown.org.

When and where is The Pig Out?
The Pig Out takes place the second weekend of July. The 2009 dates are July 10-11. The festivities kick off at 7:00 pm and goes until 1:30 am-Friday and all day Saturday. The festival is located in Downtown Aberdeen along Main Street from 3rd Ave . to Railroad Ave .

Is there an admission fee?
Yes, $3.00 per person to enter the Pig Out Festival district and children under 12 free.  Wrist bands for the beer garden are $5.00 each with your first drink free.  Proof of age is required to purchase.

Generous sponsorships from many local and regional companies as well as hundreds of volunteers from the community allow the event to keep its admission costs low to the public. The Pig Out is possible because of our sponsors, volunteers and the sale of food and beverages at the event.

What type of music is featured at the Pig Out?
The Pig Out features a wide variety of music every year including country, rock, alternative, jazz, blues, soul and funk among others.

Should I bring my kids? YES!
The Pig Out is an event for all ages. The Carnival provides a great area just for kids along with a vendor who is putting on a special activity just for the kids on Saturday.

Can I bring a cooler with outside food or outside beverages to the Pig Out?
No. Proceeds from beverage sales and vendor fees go to pay expenses and help the event grow. No coolers, no pets ("seeing eye" and "support" dogs excluded), no RVs.

There are several free public parking lots in the area surrounding the festival grounds. See the Pig Out parking map for more information.

Is The Pig Out accessible to those with disabilities?
Yes, and we try harder every year to make it easy to navigate the event. Downtown Aberdeen is completely handicap accessible including wheelchair accessible port-a-pots. "Seeing eye" and "support" dogs are welcome..

Can I camp at the Pig Out?
No. Overnight camping is not available in the Downtown Area of Aberdeen. Camping information is available on the Aberdeen Convention & Visitors Bureau website at: www.aberdeencvb.org.

Can I bring an umbrella?
Yes.  We want people to be comfortable and stay all day.  Chairs and blankets to sit on are also encouraged.

Can I bring my pet to the Pig Out?
No. The Pig Out is fun for people... but a hot and miserable place for pets. Please keep your pet at home in a nice cool place with plenty of water.

Can I bring my RV?
Sorry, no. There is limited parking in the festival area and RVs not only take up too much space, they cause unnecessary traffic problems.

Is there food at the Pig Out?
Yes! Lots of it! The festival brings in a plethora of vendors selling reasonably priced items...everything from Bar-B-Q to pizza!

Are ATM's available nearby?
Yes, there is an ATM located at Dacotah Bank or US Bank on 1st Street or Wells Fargo on 2nd Street.

What kind of seating is available at The Pig Out?
The Pig Out is hosted on Main Street in Downtown Aberdeen. We do bring in a limited number of benches and picnic tables, but we encourage you to bring your own lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.

What should I bring to the Pig Out?
A lawn chair or blanket; cash or your ATM Card; a hat, sunblock, sunglasses, your kids, and a great attitude!

What should I leave at home?
Tents, coolers or outside food and beverages, pets ("seeing eye" and "support" dogs excluded), radios and portable TV's.

Yes. The Pig Out would not be possible if not for the hundreds of community members who donate their time. How can I apply to perform at the Pig Out?

The Pig Out starts accepting press kits/CDs September 1 until January 1. We keep artist submissions on file for one year. .
